Where is the Rhône Crussol Tourist Office located ?

We have two offices : the Wine and Tourism office at 2 Rue de la République in Saint-Péray (04 75 40 46 75), open all year round, and a seasonal office in Alboussière, 150 Rue du Château (04 75 58 20 08), open during the summer season (8 July to 21 August).
What are the opening hours ?

The Saint-Péray Wine and Tourism office is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm (until 7 pm in July and August).
The Alboussière office is open during the summer season, from 7 July to 21 August, Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, as well as over the long weekends of 8 May and Ascension Day.
What services does the Tourist Office offer ?

We are here to advise you on sightseeing, activities and accommodation in the area. We also offer free brochures and maps, ticket sales (both online and in person), and a shop selling local produce.
At the Wine and Tourism office, you can discover, taste and purchase wines from the Cornas, Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph appellations, available at estate prices. Tastings are offered via an Enomatic system, with a selection of eight wines updated monthly. Wine and food events are also held throughout the year, such as afterworks !

How to access the Crussol Castle ?

Crussol Castle is accessible by car to the car park at the foot of the site. From there, it takes about 5 minutes on foot to reach the Théâtre de Verdure. Once there, you can, if you wish, walk up the hill to the top of the castle.
For visitors wishing to access the site entirely on foot, a safe footpath leads to the Théâtre de Verdure in 20 to 30 minutes of walk.
Access to the site is free and open all year round. A ticket office is available for guided tours and events.

What is there to see at the archaeological site of Soyons ?

The archaeological site of Soyons is a major Neanderthal site in Europe. It houses remarkable prehistoric caves, including the cave of Néron, a prehistoric cave occupied by the Neanderthal man, as well as a cave with concretions offering a spectacular decor of stalactites and stalagmites.
The archaeological museum traces more than 100,000 years of human occupation, from prehistory to the Middle Ages. Guided tours are available for families and groups, ideal to combine culture and discovery !

Yes ! Guided tours of heritage sites, vineyards and villages are organised throughout the year. You can find the programme on our page dedicated guided tours or enquire directly at the tourist office.
In addition, digital trails are also available, allowing you to explore the area independently and at your own pace. The Baludik app offers interactive trails, specially designed for families, in all our towns and villages. Meanwhile, « Détours en Vignes » offers geolocated itineraries through the heart of the vineyards, allowing you to explore the appellations of the Northern Rhône Valley in a fun and immersive way. The region is home to many remarkable villages and towns worth exploring, such as Soyons, Cornas, Saint-Péray, Saint-Romain-de-Lerps, Boffres, Alboussière, Charmes-sur-Rhône, Champis, Saint-Sylvestre, Saint-Georges-les-Bains, Châteaubourg, Guilherand-Granges, and Toulaud. Perched on the hills or nestled in the heart of unspoilt natural landscapes, they offer superb panoramic views of the Rhône Valley and the Vercors.

What are the wine appellations of Rhône Crussol ?

The region comprises three major AOCs : Cornas (red 100% Syrah, powerful and elegant wines), Saint-Péray (white and sparkling wines made from Marsanne and Roussanne) and Saint-Joseph (reds and whites, made from Syrah, Marsanne and Roussanne).
Can we visit wineries and do tastings ?

Absolutely ! Many partner wineries open their cellars for tastings and wine tours. You can consult the complete list of our partner estates and tasting workshops.
The House of Wines and Tourism also offers tasting workshops throughout the year. On site, a selection of 8 wines is offered thanks to an Enomatic system, with the possibility to discover them and then buy them at the estate price.
In addition, every Wednesday from May to the end of August, the Wine and Tourism office in Saint-Péray offers convivial afterworks. On the program: tastings in the presence of a winemaker and a restaurateur, food and wine pairings and discovery of local appellations,all in a relaxed atmosphere at the end of the day on a shaded terrace (indoors in case of bad weather).
What is the “Vineyards & Discoveries” label ?

Yes ! The Wine and Tourism office has a selection of wines produced by our partner winemakers (AOC Cornas, AOC Saint-Péray and AOC Saint-Joseph) available for purchase. Top tip: the wines are sold at estate prices!

Which natural massifs can we explore ?

Rhône Crussol is composed of natural massifs classified Natura 2000 and Sensitive Natural Areas (ENS), recognized for their high biodiversity and their geological and landscape heritage.
The territory includes in particular the massifs of Soyons, Crussol and Châteaubourg, which form a protected natural ensemble. These areas are home to a wide variety of habitats such as dry orchid lawns, cliffs, oak forests and caves, hosting remarkable fauna and flora.

What is the Blue Way and ViaRhôna ?

The ViaRhôna is a major cycle route that runs alongside the Rhône for around 815 km, from Geneva to the Mediterranean.
The Blue way (Voie bleue) is a local section between Châteaubourg and Soyons, offering a quieter and more accessible stretch along the river in the heart of the countryside. From Soyons, the route rejoins the ViaRhôna along the wild floodplains of the Rhône.

Are there bike routes suitable for families ?

Yes, several routes are suitable for family cycling trips in the area. The ViaRhôna offers a mostly safe and flat course along the Rhône, ideal with young children. The Voie Bleue also offers an accessible stretch between Châteaubourg and Soyons, perfect for a quieter ride.
What are the mythical climbs of the territory for cycling enthusiasts ?

Among the must-try climbs are the Val d’Enfer, renowned for its difficulty and made famous by major cycling competitions, and the Mur des Royes (or Mur de Cornas), short but particularly intense climbs on which Tadej Pogačar and Paul Seixas, in particular, distinguished themselves during the recent European Cycling Championships (UEC).
These iconic climbs feature prominently in the Faun Ardèche Classic, an international cycling event that attracts the world’s best riders every year and showcases the Rhône-Crussol region and its coastal landscapes.

The seminar room can accommodate up to 50 people seated and is equipped with tables, chairs, a 75-inch screen, Wi-Fi and a professional kitchen. How to get to Rhône Crussol from Lyon or Marseille ?

Rhône Crussol is easily accessible by car : about 1 hour from Lyon and 2 hours from Marseille via the A7 and A49 motorways.
Two stations serve the area : Valence Ville station, closest to Rhône Crussol, and Valence TGV station with fast connections to Paris (about 2 hours).
Buses on the Citéa network also connect Valence to the main towns in the Rhône-Crussol area. Citéa network
Finally, the bike-sharing service Libélo is available throughout the agglomeration of Valence Romans Mobilités and is a practical solution for local travel in addition to public transport. A velostation is also located right in front of the Wine and Tourism office in Saint-Péray. Libélo
